 Yay!
A short zine about maned wolves
Yesterday I went for a Zine making meet up at my library and made my first zine! My library has been having zine making events for at least a year now. I kept meaning to go to them, but just always managed to forget or have something else that took first priority. Yesterday I was meeting with a comrade from my local queer group to gift them some extra veggie starts, so it motivated me to make it just a little bit more.

It was fun! My handwriting isn't the best and maybe next time I might try writing with pen or a little bit smaller because a few pages had bits that were pushing the margins. Everyone I had read my copies said they could still read enough to understand what the cut off spots should say but still >x<
I made myself a few copies and also printed a few copies of a friend's zine about ARFID. There are several of those mini libraries in my town, both in main areas owned by the city/schools and in people's front yards. My wife and I go out for walk fairly often, and I have always thought it would be fun to be able to throw zines in there, and now I guess I am finally doing it! I had somewhere to be after the library and dropped a copy of mine and the AFRID zine into the little library in front of the city museum.

I don't think zine making will be my next "big thing", but at the same time I do see it being something I would once or twice a month or so. I would for sure go to the zine meet up again. The event was lead by someone who really loves zine making and regularly goes to exchange events and was talking about how she wishes she could set one up around here. I occasionally do magazine cut out poetry, and had brought some of those supplies with me. She has shown me some beautiful art zines she had made using packing tape transfers. She wanted to see my poetry, but I didn't even think to bring it. Maybe next time!

1.) Maned Wolves - the candid that is neither a wolf or a fox By: Luna Moon
2) Maned Wolves are the largest candid in South America. They are the only member of their genus, Chrysocyon. Their appearance resembles a red fox on stilts.
3.) Maned wolves are not as vocal compared to other wild dogs. Instead they communicate through marking their territory with their foul smelling urine. The scent is often compared to marijuana.
4.) Maned wolves are omnivores and usually hunt solo. About 75% of their diet is veggies and fruits. They will also eat small mammals, birds, and insects.
5.) Maned wolves tend to only meet for breeding. Wild behavior has not been often observed, but it appears both the males and females help care for their young through the first year of their life.
6.) Maned wolves live in central and eastern South America, including Brazil, Argentina, and southern Peru. The landscape is composed of wet and dry forests, savanna's,marshes, and wetlands.
7.) Maned wolves are currently listed as Near Threatened. Both habitat loss and poaching are their main threats. They are protected from hunting, but sometimes farmers commit retaliation kills.

Maybe another day I will put together a list of ideas for zines I have. I plan to make ones for my other theriotypes, and I have some ideas for gardening ones as well!
